Processing and composition are widely exploited to manipulate material properties. Property charts offer a novel way to track the 'trajectory' of a material as its composition and/or process history are changed. This offers a tool for developing deeper understanding of the material choices in design, or for mapping the key properties in relation to the corresponding microstructures. Examples will include heat-treatable steels, filled polymers and fibre-based materials.
